Being a Father's Daughter, it is only fitting that I should initiate my new blog on Father's Day.
This is completely impromptu, but the time is ripe! Please see my post on Author's Promoting Authors blog: http://authorspromotingauthors.blogspot.com/2011/06/sundays-stillpoint-letting-go.html if you are interested in the process that brought me here today. This new blog was created several months ago, but I had not committed myself to it's launching until this morning. Psyche's Journey is in a transitional state at the moment. This beloved project of mine needs to be adapted to the financial constraints of the current economy, but I feel optimistic that a new way will open up. If there is enough interest, I am considering an online magazine. This blog, along with my blog spots on Author's Promoting Authors, should help me gage the next steps.

The following is a quote from my article called, "Spiraling Into Me" from the Spring/Summer 2010 issue of Psyche's Journey. It seems appropriate for this Father's day post. Are you a Father's Daughter too? I would love to hear your feedback, your experiences, your soul stories, so that we might create a community of likeminded women (and men) who are looking to continue their personal, psychological development. I am especially interested in the area of love and relationships, and of course the conscious feminine.
"I am very fortunate to be a Father’s Daughter. Love becomes a potent teacher from this perspective, and I am love’s diligent student. Marion Woodman speaks of looking at the numinous loves in our lives as falling in love with the same person again and again. These loves begin at home, with caretakers and their manner of loving.
Your thoughts? Love to all, Dorica
Very interesting, Dorica !!
ReplyDeleteI have wondered, and this is just a question, that when a son is a "mother's son," or a daughter is a "father's daughter," as you were, that in addition to the many gifts that come, there is also a dark shadow side.
Which is that at some point the son needs to find a way to divorce his mother and the daughter the same with her father, and until that happens there will be a certain awkwardness in being with the opposite.
As with any divorce, this will probably create pain in the mother or father, and be difficult for the son or daughter who has enjoyed and perhaps basked in a special glow.
Hi Rob - how cool to have you be my first posted commenter! Thanks for reading/responding! I would have to say my experience was very close to what you suggest. It was not until my father's death, and the subsequent release that followed, was I able to begin transforming the unconscious attachment to my dad. I had tried to do the work prior, but something very big shifted in me, when he passed. I'm sure it is different for every person, and I had been preparing myself, so when he actually died, I was finally able to develop my OWN standpoint. Still developing! :))
ReplyDeleteDid I send you the issue of Psyche's Journey that had the article I reference above in it? I tell a short dream in which my dad's dogs run away from me and disappear in the backyard - on the day of my dad's funeral! Such a clear message from the psyche! Marion wanted to use that dream in a book that has never been written - hmmm, maybe I'll write it! Let me know if you didn't get "Spiraling into Me" - I can copy and paste the dream here - if you are interested.
Thanks again for writing Rob! Happy Father's day to you!
